If you think your transportation clients have no exposure to pollution claims…
June 8th, 2006If you think your transportation clients have no exposure to pollution claims…you’d better think again! A tanker-trailer owned by an agricultural products manufacturer overturned on the highway, spilling over 3,000 gallons of chemicals. The release caused soil and surface water contamination. Clean-up costs will exceed $130,000. A vapor release from a tank truck located at a waste disposal facility caused an evacuation of the facility, as well as several surrounding area businesses. Settlement costs are estimated at nearly $1,000,000. When the driver of an oil tanker truck checked his cargo prior to unloading, vapor fumes ignited causing an explosion. The resulting damage to the truck allowed the oil supply to leak out and led to significant contamination.
